DAMASCUS (ethics submitted): Diverticular Abscess Management: A Snapshot Collaborative aUdit Study) is an international, prospective study aiming to investigate the variations in the management of patients with diverticular abscess and whether these variations are associated with short term clinical outcomes. Protocol here: www.acpgbi.org.uk/news/damascus-study-in-the-uk/

PelvEx collaborative. International prospective registry of pelvic exenteration outcomes (extended surgery for locally advanced rectal cancer with removal of surrounding pelvic organs en bloc). We have recruited 60 patients to this registry with data entry ongoing. Further information can be found here: https://www.pelvex.org/

RENO (recruiting): Prospective Study of ‘Watch and Wait’ Strategy in Patients with Rectal Cancer who have Developed a Clinical Complete Response with concurrent Chemo‐radiotherapy: RENO trial (REctal cancer No Operation). Protocol here: https://gicancer.org.au/clinical-trial/reno/#health-professionals

CORSiCA study (completed): COmplete pathologic ReSponse rectal CAncers => Outcomes after complete pathological response to chemoradiation in rectal cancer. International collaboration with the European Society of Surgical Oncology.

Lateral node study consortium: Multi-national collaborative research looking at the impact of lateral pelvic lymph node dissection on outcomes after neoajuvant chemoradiation for locally advanced rectal cancer with abnormal lateral nodes.

SAHMRI collaboration. Significant linkage with the SAHMRI beat bowel cancer research group, with particular focus on supplying tissue and providing clinical context for their organoid work. In particular, we are interested in looking at predicting rectal cancer response to chemoradiation by testing patient cancer tissue in real time and correlating this with clinical outcome. We have ethics approval, and are currently actively helping build the tissue bank. The role of probiotic bacteria in tagging colorectal neoplasia is also an important focus.

CSIRO ongoing collaboration correlating serum biomarkers of colorectal malignancy with clinical and oncological outcomes.
